I wanted to choose to go to a ballet because I know that I would be able to pick up details faster than other forms of Western or Classical performances. I also chose a ballet because I have such respect for every performer in a ballet because I understand the discipline of the dancers there. Any performer, musician as well, dedicates their life to perfect their talent. My old ballet teacher, Kimmy Stevens, knew a ballerina that will be in the Great Russian Nutcracker which will be performed on November 20th at the Fox Theater in Saint Louis, Missouri (My hometown). I attended one of their practices prior to their real performance this past Saturday November 10th. I attended with my old dance friends that I used to take ballet classes with. This was my only free weekend to travel back home to visit my family due to dance team practice. Finally, we did not have a football game or a performance. Instead, I got to watch dance and enjoy a live performance! I was able to live out a live performance, however the packed audience aspect was missing. But there was still a crowd verse just sitting down by yourself while watching a YouTube clip. I have been to the Fox in Saint Louis, Missouri many times. The venue is gorgeous. The feel of the Fox is indescribable. The red color and gold makes it feel high class. When you step in to the theater, you feel like something magical is about to happen and of course it always does. The red curtains drape over the huge stage. While the audience waits for the show to start, the art work on the ceiling is admired along with the architecture.

The Sugar Plum Fairy is such a recognizable song for me. Hearing this song live was an unreal experience. I received the chills as… Read more

The Waltz of the Snowflakes Experiences
The Waltz of the Snowflakes live had a similar feel to the Sugar Plum Fairy music in the beginning. There was a choir singing and it sounded like chimes were going off as well. Many more dances filled the stage. My ballet teacher’s friend was one of the snowflakes. She tried pointing her out. However,… Read more
